Roompot neemt dit jaar bewust niet meer deel aan de Warmetruiendag. De vakantieaanbieder steunt het duurzame initiatief. Een analyse van de vorige deelnames leerde Roompot dat het laten afkoelen en weer opwarmen van de duurzame kantoren meer energie vraagt dan het op peil houden van een constante temperatuur.
CO2-voetafdruk en restafval halveren
Roompot is een milieubewust bedrijf dat tal van duurzame initiatieven omarmt. Daarbij legt de vakantieaanbieder de focus op initiatieven waarmee het zijn CO2-voetafdruk en het restafval kan halveren tegen 2030. Enkele voorbeelden hiervan zijn een miljoeneninvestering in zonnepanelen, het scheiden van afval en zijn leidende rol tijdens de World Cleanup Day. Met het laatste steunt Roompot ook acties die een positieve impact hebben en het milieubewustzijn van iedereen versterken.
Vorige deelnames aan Warmetruiendag
Vanuit die laatste motivatie nam Roompot de voorbij jaren telkens deel aan de Warmetruiendag. Op het hoofdkantoor van Roompot in Goes werd die dag de verwarming twee graden lager gezet. Door minder te verwarmen verwachtte ook Roompot zijn steentje bij te dragen tot een lagere CO2-uitstoot en iedereen wat bewuster te maken.
Een analyse van de resultaten leerde Roompot dat het verlagen van de verwarming slechts een minimaal effect heeft op zijn al beperkte uitstoot en dat die inspanning daags erop volledig verloren gingen wanneer de verwarming extra moest werken om de temperatuur weer op peil te krijgen.
Aan de bron ligt dat het hoofdkantoor van Roompot uiterst energie-efficiënt en geïsoleerd is. Het A++ gecertificeerde gebouw maakt gebruik van groene energie en recupereert warmte om zo zijn CO2-voetafdruk zo laag mogelijk te houden.
Roompot zal daarom niet deelnemen aan de Warmetruiendag op 11 februari. Het bedrijf zal zich uiteraard blijven inzetten om zijn CO2-voetafdruk verder te verlagen en is ervan overtuigd dat de Warmetruiendag wel een positief effect heeft bij andere bedrijven.
